There is more demand for good Maine Coon Kittens than there are Maine Coon kittens. Getting one takes a willingness to reach out early and establish a good rapport with me, and sometimes, as hard as it is, a willingness to be patient. Mother Nature has more to say than we do about what kittens come when and what colors and genders they will be.

Jellico Dream Maine Coon kittens are sold as pets to loving homes. We do not sell cats for breeding or with breeding rights. I almost never sell my retired breeders either. I am too attached to them.

Kittens are reserved and sold only with a signed written purchase agreement. Once individual kittens are posted on this website with their temporary names, prices for any available kittens are posted next to their individual name and description. However, it is best to reach out even before kittens are posted, so that we can get comfortable with each other and you can get on my short list of already-approved buyers. I will always offer kittens to buyers on my pre-approved short list before I post them as available on this website. Often, all kittens in a given litter are claimed by the short list before they ever get posted to the website. The good news is that getting on my short list costs nothing except the time you spend communicating with me.

I believe “first come, first served” is for inanimate objects that don’t need love, so I want to know a little about you and your interest in Maine Coons as part of the process. This is an adoption, not an Amazon transaction. These beautiful little love monsters are hard for me to let go, and I can only sell them if I know I am making both a good owner and the kitten very happy. I need a good mental picture of a wonderful life for the kitten, and that can only come from good simple human communication. I also need to know I am sending the kitten to someone who will continue to communicate with me after the kitten goes home. I want to see my kittens grow up in pictures. One more thing: Chat GPT and A.I. assisted communication are not going to get you very far with me. I am interested in finding good human beings for my kittens. Not good computer programs.

If you see a kitten you would like to purchase that is listed as available on our website, or if you are on our short list and we reach out to you, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your interest. Kittens start being claimed quickly once made available. Kittens can’t press pause on growing up, and we can’t turn down another good buyer’s offer on a specific kitten until we have a firm commitment from you.

A $500 non-refundable holding fee and signed purchase agreement are both required to reserve a kitten. The holding fee is applied towards the total purchase price if the balance is paid when due, which is 1 week before pickup by you or your pet transport service if paying by cashier’s check, or 2 weeks before pickup if paying by personal check.

Please understand that because I am not a first come, first served breeder, I am not a breeder who can say “you are #2 pick.” Who got onto our list of approved buyers first may be a tie-breaker between great prospective buyers who both want the same kitten, but it is not the sole factor. For example, I do give priority consideration to buyers who want to keep 2 littermates together, and I also give priority consideration to repeat buyers who have treated a previous kitten of mine well, have stayed in touch with me, and have sent me plenty of pictures of the kitten as it grows. The kittens’ interests always come first with me.

I don’t hold entire litters so that I can give someone “pick of the litter.” There may be breeders that do that, but I do not. With any given litter, I have good people who have been waiting a long time for specific colors, repeat buyers who want a companion for a previous kitten of mine, buyers willing to keep 2 siblings together, and so on. So rarely will any given buyer have more than 2 or 3 kittens to choose from in any given Jellico Dream litter. Again, that is because I am not a first come, first served breeder. I am a “what’s best for each kitten” breeder.

If other kittens in a litter were reserved first, that does not mean the ones that are left are of any less quality. Many buyers have a specific color in mind when they come to us, often because their last Maine Coon was that color. The earlier buyers’ color and gender preferences determine the order in which kittens are selected more than any other factors.

Kittens are ready to go to their new homes at 12 weeks, and some kittens are ready a little sooner.  If you are unable to pick up in person, I can meet you or an approved flight nanny at the Dothan, Panama City Beach, Tallahassee, or Montgomery airports, or if dates are coordinated, the Birmingham or Atlanta airports, without any extra charge from me. I can also recommend professional transporters who will safely hand deliver your kitten to your home or any major airport in the United States for a fee. Their prices vary. I DO NOT ship kittens as cargo. Ever. And I do not sell kittens to buyers outside the United States and Canada.

Because Jellico Dream is not a first come first served business, I do not offer reservations or accept holding fees for unborn kittens. I do try to keep the Jellico Dream website up to date so that you can find when our next litters are expected and when kittens are available for reservation.

Tips for Avoiding Online Scams and Making Sure You Are Dealing With a Real Breeder

There are some easy ways to tell if an online site really has the kittens it claims to have, or whether it just copied photos from another breeder’s website as a means of scamming unsuspecting purchasers. First, call the breeder in person. If the breeder won’t talk to you on the phone, that is a big red flag. I am always happy to talk about Maine Coons, and I actually … Continued
